Definitely. Possibly selective luddism where they choose to embrace one form of tech but not another. Much like the Amish do now.

I'm pretty concerned it could turn into a form of authoritarian and be a deeply illiberal and undemocratic movement.

The people who embrace the technology will be deeply illiberal and undemocratic? It’s usually the ones with the best technology who attain the power
