Just download Bitcoin Core on their computer, if they have enough storage you can go full, if not pruned.

Then set them up with whichever wallet you think will work for them...specter, sparrow, etc..

So I run a prune node.. to secure it I don't have but 40k sats on it because I'm not sure how to secure incase someone stumbles into my computer lol I did the encrypted password thing and that it I haven't even connected any outside wallet but I need it to be explained like a 5 year old πŸ˜…

You need a cold storage device, re: hardware wallet & another interface which uses the pruned node to help you leverage it's capabilities, like specter or sparrow wallet.

Once you have this setup you'll feel comfortable, my self custody guide is real close to being finished πŸ‘€.

And I woukd like to connect bluewallet to my prune node

Why?

You'll need to setup an electrum server.

Ima go back and watch btc Sessions. πŸ˜†

Might be more straight forward to run a full node πŸ˜†

I have an old laptop I'm thinking of converting into a node rather than just getting rid of.

Ya I gotta get one just for that so I a can run a lightning node as well..

Sparrow>99% of wallets and it's easy to connect to core.

My favorite combo! Sparrow is amazing β€” it literally taught me UTXO management 🀯

You've inspired me to familiarize myself with it!

You’ll love it! Selecting UTXOs, constructing transactions, signing, broadcasting. It’s pure bliss 🧑

Awesome, and thank you! It seems like I don't have enough disk space for a full node, though. Maybe I'll start with a pruned node with this old laptop, unless you have a different suggestion.

Maybe an external ssd would do the trick?

Yeah, you're right. It's the only way. I don't want a pruned node. I want a full node!
