Just download Bitcoin Core on their computer, if they have enough storage you can go full, if not pruned.

Then set them up with whichever wallet you think will work for them...specter, sparrow, etc..

Awesome, and thank you! It seems like I don't have enough disk space for a full node, though. Maybe I'll start with a pruned node with this old laptop, unless you have a different suggestion.

Yeah, you're right. It's the only way. I don't want a pruned node. I want a full node!
