- links and QR codes (for inviting friends) MUST land on a web based client, and installing a native client will ALWAYS be more steps for the end user.

- The UX for customizable invites and network discovery of recommended clients, relays, follows, and other stuff should REALLY be a polished flow. Most social clients will not have such a polished flow as a dedicated onboarding client, or at least a “plug and play” wizard that can be added to their own client.

- the most important feature for social onboarding is immediate and private communication between the invited and their advocate inviter. This can be as simple as implementing gift-wrapped direct messaging in the onboard client itself.

nostrmeet.me fulfills all of these needs. it is a “dedicated onboard client” because, despite the hurdle of having “yet another client”, exactly this kind of client IS what is needed for social onboarding.

IMHO

Will nostrmeet.me be able to integrate with OtherStuff clients?

Suppose I'm working on a code project, and we're collaborating via GitWorkshop. Can I send an invite to friends that directs them to GitWorkshop so they can set up their code workspace?

Likewise, what if I want to invite writers to apps like Habla or Yakihonne. Can I give them a customized invite that points them to long-form writing clients?

I think OtherStuff will become bigger than social media for Nostr, in the long run. We need smooth onboarding for those use cases just as much as we need good notification managers.

Exactly the point I’m making! All clients across the Nostr network will benefit from customizable invites by any social onboarding (enabled) client.

YES, invites by nostrmeet.me will be customizable to “recommend” any Nostr client (by URL or AppStore link) for the new user…

Yeah, but why would we add one centralized onboarding link to all clients? That's centralization my friend.

No. Social onboarding is a way of leveraging real world webs of trust to strengthen the Nostr network.

I am just a dumb fool crazy enough to put ideas on paper and put a bit of broken code on the web to maybe solve for it.

My open source code is a reference client. The first of hopefully many “social onboarding clients” to come. Also, hopefully, it will evolve into a library (social onboarding wizard) that other (not dedicated) clients can implement.

So no. Social onboarding is not centralized. Just a good idea for Nostr.

It’s all in the article. Read it.
