Hard to tease that out. Seems like they're trying to run Ubuntu in a VM? Then talking about Start9 which is another distro. I'm happy to help anyone though that's having trouble, if I can

I knew you would. That’s why I tagged you. He said he’s getting no where asking for troubleshooting help. Maybe he’ll chime in and clarify what’s happening

I was under the impression i needed to run Ubuntu to use any of the 3 ubrel, start9 or mynode.

Umbrel, Start9 and RaspiBlitz are each use their own distro. Loading Umbrel on a machine requires that machine to run Debian with Umbrel's spin likewise with RaspiBlitz. Start9 uses EmbassyOS. So you kind of need to run a dedicated machine or in a Virtual Machine on your Windows box with something like VMware or something like that.

To be clear though, you don't have to run any of those "node distros" to run a Lightning node. You can run a Lightning node on any Linux/BSD/Mac/Windows machine

I was unaware of this

So how do I run a lightning node from my windows computer?

you'd have two options

1) install WSL Ubuntu

2) install Virtual Box and a Ubuntu

after you decide which, you can then decide to build it from scratch or use a pre-packaged solution.
