I really appreciate the noncompliance, the civil disobedience, I just don’t think that will scale and I’d really like to see more commerce on nostr in the US.

Until guidance or new laws get made, zap growth will be hindered.

The US is expecting $28 billion over a decade from crypto. They are explicitly saying they want unhosted wallets to calculate capital gains for users.

Who in the fuck would buy coffee with bitcoin if you had to pay capital gains on the purchase?

Currently in the US it’s use the dollar and get hit with inflation, or use your bitcoin and sell at a loss or pay capital gains on your purchases. nostr:note1nfldrkfgpg39nw48mn2dqrdece87s6f9ykx9n0qwhqc529js376qe4yqvg

Fix the money, fix the world?

If your grandmother wrote a check for $37.16 to pay her sewer bill, and the bank charged her (or even allowed her to pay) $11.56 in fees to process the payment (31%!), every financial regulator and consumer protection agency in Amerika would be filing a lawsuit against them.

IDK why any wallet software would allow this. How in the unholy hell can such Bitcoin transactions even happen, much less fix anything?

Civil disobedience only really gets going when it becomes necessary to maintain one’s quality of life. We aren’t quite there yet but it will come.

Most people aren’t in perfect compliance with every law as is.

Yup, pretty depressing the laws that get made. The pain..

Cool part about zaps tho that's new compared to Bitcoin is the micro. If u keep em under 10 cents you don't need to report them, and then a thousand people zap someone 10 cents.. that's 100$. A million people do, and that's 100,000$. Youtub people get a million views, but do they get 100,000$? Nope, they only get 5,000$

“If zaps stay under a penny has anyone really even sent you any value to calculate a cost basis?” fr fr no 🧢
