Working in an organization increases communication and means that each individual can produce more and become more specialized. Independence and self employment are great ways to avoid corruption and immorality, but they come at the cost of lowering an individual's absolute potential.

Yes. I know there's no alternative (yet). It was the worst setup experience I've had with any software for years.
Didn't attempt a manual setup - it does seem a bit monolithic, which was probably inevitable given the maturity of the product
They're building an entirely new version but it's nowhere near ready yet
Matrix isn't perfect but it's the best we have (happy to be proven wrong)

If you use a provisioning system, such as start 9 or cloudron, yes - very easy
