Dogs are generally comfortable and relaxed off leash. Large dogs are also comfortable and relaxed on leash. But small dogs... not comfortable on leash! Because of that leash, they know that they cannot run away if a big aggressive dog comes at them. So they yip yip yip in panic and fear, always nervous, hoping all that barking will scare away any big dog that might come after them... even when there aren't any big dogs coming after them!

I have a new nick name for such a dog in such a situation: A "European" dog.

I have 4 big digs that almost never need a leash. It feels so much better to build a strong bomd over trying to control a dog in my opinion. Love it and set it free.

My large dog is too relaxed and friendly and goes right up to little dogs on leashes, which usually panics them into starting a scuffle, then I get blamed for not having my dog on leash.

Same. We are always good until a scared dog or owner gets involved. My dogs always stay chill though. They don't easily get in fighting mode. It's usually just the osners being afraid.

Yep. My dog doesn't really engage, maybe makes a symbolic nip like "don't you dare"

Most people don't understand how dogs interact. Usually they just need to meet and figure out their hierarchy.

How did Europe become such an insecure continent? Is it because all the chads left to find new adventure in America?

Yup very close to the truth

If you have a big country defending you for 70 years you get lazy about your own defense, and then when that defense is threatened you panic because you aren't even close to prepared to do it yourself.

Maybe it's a demographics thing too, so many young European men lost in WWII they might not have recovered that spirit yet.

I get that they've been reliant on America but that still doesn't answer why they chose to do that in the first place. They used to be so much more proud and actually influential around the world. The British were a legit empire.

good times create weak men and so on ...

Also, arguably, it has been the British Empire’s agenda to weed out the chads for 120+ years (to great success)

Why would they do that to themselves?

It’s true the unchadification of Britain is a counter argument… worth looking into

I would point to the Pound and Brexit and Five Eyes and Israel and other things to say that Britain is still making sure they get theirs

Chad basedness threatens totalitarian control

True they’ve got commoners to thwart in the homeland as well

Here is one of those little dogs:

The whole continent is filled with those dogs. Hypnotised. Watch out!

Rabid european dog

Who's holding the leash?

*snap* goes the metaphor

Yep. Bay Area is full of said “Europeans”.

I like dogs but i hate the smaller ones for their constant yapping. In general I also have a feeling that small dogs are much capable of training. Might just be my bias though.

The explanation provided for you gives a nice context to it though, thanks!

*much less capable of training
