Posting random thoughts to the Internet is easier on any social media, rather than Nostr.

Posting thoughts about some object, and keeping track of the disparate convos about those various objects, is easier on Nostr than on any social media, because Nostr doesn't care what the object is.

git over Nostr is BETTER than git over GitHub

book discussions over Nostr is BETTER than the same thing over goodreads.

product or hiking path ratings over Nostr is BETTER than...

KWIM?

And you can be like,

Hey, client, anything I'm talking about anywhere with anyone, put it in the feed, yo.

At the same time that you can be like,

Let me have three npubs, so I got three different feeds.

KWYM… everything over #nostr is better

I sure don't.

But I'd really like goodreads on nostr...

Same. Patience kimosabe. πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

So, the thing that gets people using Nostr is the object they're discussing. It's the other stuff.

But once you have an npub, you can use it to discuss any stuff. Websites, news articles, breastfeeding, cooking, training for a marathon, programming, music, video games, etc.

And, yes, random shit you thought up while using the restroom and selfies from your living room comfy chair. Because life without random shit is possible, but not recommended.

And I think git on Nostr is a killer app.

Literally thrilling to use it because it removes all the bullshit you hated about GitHub and then it adds features you can't do over GitHub, and integrates it into your Everything Feed, so you don't need Yet Another Fucking App (YAFA) to keep track of what is going on there.

At the same time, that you could take a break from the dev chatter by filtering out specifically the git kinds and go touch some 🌱 and get some β˜€οΈ

I just totally noticed this because I reinstalled Linux and I got my Nostr browser extension set up with 3 npubs in about 2 minutes and could immediately log into all my apps (like GitWorkshop and Nostrudel) and just start working and then I had to setup Slack, Thunderbird, and GitHub and it be like *inner groan*.

That shit's so fucking annoying. Excuse my French, but fr.

<15 secs per login with a setup pw manager?

Am I missing something

Your missing that the workflow is slightly different in each and often involves, e-mail, authenticators, captcha, etc.

I haven't even setup most of the non-Nostr stuff because I was just like nope, not today. I have like 8 more apps to go. Just shoot me now. πŸ˜‚

But just think about it. You get a new phone or laptop or whatever and it's like login once. Done.

I could totally see a client having like an in-office/touch-grass feed toggle.

Could even set it to a timer or calendar and be like, don't be sending me no edits to the department budget statement while I'm on vacation or at 8 pm on a Friday. Babysitter always gets through, as does flight change data...

I enjoy not seeing targeted ads in my feed related to keywords aligned to my demographic segment.

Ugh, even those words give me horrible flashbacks.

I used to get ads targeted to men in their 50s. πŸ˜‚

I go to other places and it's nearly impossible to even read anything because of the mess the ads and pop-ups make. Stuff blinking and scrolling all over the place.

The most basic thing like searching for a recipe…do you people have to use every single webpage widget ever invented at the same time?!

🀣🀣🀣 FR!!!

And the funny thing is that none of us are even anti-ad.

We follow companies on here, to find out about sales or updates or whatnot, or just to laugh when they post funny memes, but that is our choice and we can turn it on or off, and it's not just a bunch of junk. They know we are there willingly, so they put some effort in.

I could even imagine an ad-bot, that you can sign up to, that showcases companies from a particular branch or from your region. Or, like Catholic stuff or hijab fashion, or Bitcoin style, surfing gear, or whatnot. Like, that could actually be pretty cool.

Make marketing great again. πŸ˜‚

Gunstore bot. πŸ˜‚

I want to bring brands here but only the ones that are willing to make the effort to understand how and why this is a different animal from anything they have experienced before. We need a Nostr Agency.

Is git over nostr a thing? Or in the works?

Git remains git (can't really improve on git), but we're successfully replacing GitHub, yes.
