So, what do you refurbish a 10-year old MacBook Pro for? Is it actually OK to run nodes and other such software 24/7? Just turn off the screen?

Of course it is! I use a 2014 Mac mini for my Start9 node 🤙

Could also install Linux and run pi-hole on your local network

A Mac Mini actually looks like a box that can be run without a monitor. But a laptop? I guess it makes little difference. I hear you can even close it and let it run this way.

Yes, you can run a Mac laptop in clamshell mode if you have a monitor,keyboard, and mouse plugged in
