Lol šÆ The funny thing is my posts about bitcoin have been just been a normal part of my discourse on here. Sometimes it comes up and sometimes it doesnāt. Until all this BS nonsense about āde-bitcoiningā things to make it more āwelcoming.ā Freedom money on a freedom communication protocol isnāt something to be ashamed of. We need to continue demonstrating just how powerful this combination of technologies can be! People can discuss what they want, but this is like nothing the world has ever had before. Acting like itās merely a place to discuss your favorite recipes and nothing else is missing the bigger picture.

In most cases that Iāve seen, it is coming from a good place. From people who want to see nostr grow. What they fail to realize is that limiting what one can say, or think, is the opposite of what this protocol was developed for. This very well may be our last line of defence, and to sacrifice that on the alter of quick growth may be self defeating. If we are at war on the battlefield of ideas, it doesnāt matter how big our fire is. It only matters that we are able to send out smoke signals. Eventually, some one will see it.
People that want nostr to grow, focused on nostr growth, are coming from a legacy mindset. Nostr needs nothing but freedom of expression to grow. Those expressing their desires to see it grow are part of that thesis, but their desire to control others speech and activity are reminiscent of legacy motivations.
I think on some level itās probably well-intentioned, but it takes a pretty privileged mindset to say that bitcoin is too offensive to talk about and we need to remove it from our profiles and our discourse. The war against free speech, freedom of information, and freedom of commerce gets worse and worse. Look at what the EU did just yesterday with more regulations of big tech in the name of keeping people āsafeā from āharmful information.ā Look at the global push toward CBDC and the completely financial surveillance that would enable. Iām happy to share and talk about my hobbies with other like minded people, and I see Nostr as a place anyone can do that. But to suggest that canāt happen unless we stop talking about solutions to the biggest issues facing humanity is ridiculous.
I agree with everything you have said here.
The government doesn't get to tell anyone in America what 'harmful information' is, and what is 'safe'. Gives you an indication of what our Constitution does for us.. God, keep blessing our Founders In our country, it's the Left who would say this kind of thing, and have.. I'd tell them to recite the 'Sticks and Stones will break my bones' then tell then to fuck off.Ā Pardon my French. I'm an American. I'll decide to listen or not listen.
Itās hard to believe that people pushing that and being serious.
