There's very little cost to move client, run your own relay with backups, switch up relays, run behind payed relays, and your identity is cryptographically signed so you bring your identity with you with your private key, and users can identify you on different relays. Not at all like mastodon where your identity controlled by the server host.
They can still share blocklists of known-bad keys and mass relay block . The entire fediverse is divied by this

architecture is everything, nostr is designed to maximize censorship resistance, just watch the ccp struggle to shut it down, nostr can go over any transport, use tor, use p2p like holepunch, make new relays, transfer notes via bluetooth via usb, gl fucking stopping us now fuckers
