BlueWallet is great for on chain. For lightning are you wanting a custodial or self-custodial solution?

Self custody if possible. Does BlueWallet support LN wallets?

Only if you use LNDHub. You can link your self-hosted Lightning node(run through LNDHub) to blue wallet with that extension.

Might just go with custodial LN lol

It really isn't insurmountable. Old PC or a cheap lower power unit with at least 8 gigs of ram, probably 1-2tb of storage. You can flash StartOS (formerly EmbassyOS) on to it and they have user guides and amazingly simple step by step walkthroughs. Plug that sucker in and let it be your LN node. nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll really made it simple.

I want to do it, I’m just lazy lol

One great lazy way to go is to buy the Server One from Start9 themselves, though you still have to do minimal setup of that. It's deliberately made to be as easy as possible to get self custodial bitcoin and lightning ok that sucker.

Barring that, I swear by Sparrow Wallet and Nunchuk as far as self custody bitcoin goes, and you can use those with or without your own node. Then for a private payment intermediary and cheap fees via lightning and whatnot, looks like Coinos is really really good, as recommended by nostr:npub1cwhy4k8qd2guyqz8t45u4yzyp4k4fhnjn573ukh6e77mde2dgm9s2lujc5

I think for now I’ve settled on BlueWallet and Breez Wallet. Both are non custodial. Was seriously considering coinos but I really wanted a non custodial LN wallet. Breez seems to run the node on your phone

I have had Breez and couldn't figure that out yet lol. But I didn't make time to focus on it.

I guess I’ll see how much I actually use it. I really only use LN for zapping on my primal wallet

I receive lightning by invoice ($21-$100 regularly) so I prefer to not use Primal for that since Coinos isn't kyc.

I just never have invoices to pay

Unless you buy by jerky, that is.

Green Wallet has self custody liquid and I think it uses lightning swaps to interoperate with lightning. Best for medium sized lightning payments like 5000 sats, like a coffee or more, since fees for swaps can be around like 500 sats, though direct Liquid to Liquid fees are only about 20 sats per transaction. Extremely easy way to store bitcoin in a private way that also has low fees even when onchain fees get high. Still self custody, but you have to rely on the Liquid federation to remain viable into the future against all government attacks. That's the main set of tradeoffs. You can always swap liquid back onchain as long as the Liquid federation is viable though.

You can use Blue Wallet for on chain self custody hot wallet and for air gapped cold wallets using qr codes. Can also use for a lightning wallet if you run your own lightning channel so it’s a good versatile wallet to have on ios.

I like Breez for an easy self custody ios lightning channel. Zeus is also good but hasn’t been as reliable for me.

Yep I went blue wallet and Breez
