The Zoo Hypothesis is interesting. It holds that alien life exists but are deliberately avoiding contact with us because they recognise some value in leaving us alone.

There’s this theory that for aliens to exist and to have that levels of technology, they must be really totalitarian, which would make them super evil.
There’s also a theory that for aliens to exist and have that kind of technology we must be living in a simulation which is quite plausible
