He is exaggerating. Reported messages by the people you follow show up with a warning and "Show Anyway" button. They don't disappear.

So, users always know when this feature is active for given posts.

ah ok, glad this has been cleared up. No problem here. Move along.

lmao

I see. Is there any way to opt out if you don’t want people you follow to determine what you see?

Crickets.

I am here..

Good.

Can you opt out? Y/n?

Not yet. PRs to make this better are welcome.

I'll have to think about that. . .

Because I'm really not sure what I would do different.

We do need spam mitigation.

But It dose feel like 5 influencers could easily collude to squish some minority thinker.

And even though it's not a full Hide it seems akin to the "missinformation" warnings from the bird app.

it's a full hide if you do not follow the account (yet) yourself

tricky issue indeed, bc the bot issue is also a big issue

Weather or not they have nip-05?

I think my biggest gripe would be that I doubt everyone on this feed would be able to agree on the definition of "spam".

Are we just talking about shilling the hip s*** coin of the day and nick nacks from AliExpress?

Or is it anytime anyone trys to sell something?

I might weld something cool on a job and post it with a Link to my site. Someone can announce a new feature to there app, or a new podcast episode. Are these not businesses?

i hear you..

just thinking out loud here..

optimus zerolayer airdrop + mainvolume headache attached to notes

personally im very rarely on global anyway, but i think we can also agree that a ridiculous amount of feedfilling automated aliexpress shills are spam too

thinking about gpt3 tho.. bc i dont want to follow it (bloats feed), however I'd still like to interact with it when i want

I think it would be wiser to implement it yourself given the level of controversy and reputation damage

I love amethyst btw.

ok so if you dont follow the account it gets hidden then? without the show more button? trying to figure out here what thus is about..

The determination by follows is supposed to always show with the warning (similar to sensitive content).

The spam determination hides it, but only until the next time the app restarts.

"untill the next time the app restarts"

when cache is cleared you mean?

yep
