He is exaggerating. Reported messages by the people you follow show up with a warning and "Show Anyway" button. They don't disappear.
So, users always know when this feature is active for given posts.

We do need spam mitigation.
But It dose feel like 5 influencers could easily collude to squish some minority thinker.
And even though it's not a full Hide it seems akin to the "missinformation" warnings from the bird app.

I think my biggest gripe would be that I doubt everyone on this feed would be able to agree on the definition of "spam".
