Yeah I am doubling down and calling this coercion. It’s not consent by any means. When you don’t pay taxes, you get letters from the IRS with clear intimidation tactics. It’ll say something along the lines of you respond asap or potentially face large fines and/or imprisonment.

Imagine sending a threatening letter like this to a woman you are trying to date if she refuses to go out with you. If she goes out with you after receiving this later, she has not freely consented. She has been coerced and her interest in dating you is fraudulent.

I see that it is coercion if you view it as having no choice to pay. But you still have a choice to leave and not participate. So you are consenting because you have a choice. Choice however unsavoury to you, is still there. How about you also just do cash jobs, this is another "choice".

How about the choice to just be left alone?

I know there are solutions and work arounds. That’s definitely one of them. But my point is that it’s not a choice.
