I have been doing mainly just pushups recently and eaten 1-2 meals of day with no snacking. Yet I am putting on muscle with zero effort.

I am coming to conclusion it’s more about the quality of food you eat than it is than how much you eat and lifting heavy.

agreed.

body weight excess will get ya looking fit & trim. but to put on mass, you'll almost definitely have to up your food intake and add weights to your routine.

I'm getting old and my joints and disks just do not like heavy weights anymore.

I keep it to compound movements & exercises with moderate weight and my body is happy about that.

I worked out with pull-ups geofence rings) and dumbbells for tow year before getting a bench press setup and a belt squat machine.

I learned two things. Ben hung a lot of weight hurts my shoulders and back. I should have never purchased a bench setup. Dumbbells were more than enough. Rings are great too.

Yes and less injuries.

Start chopping wood and digging ditches. With axes and shovels. Do earth work on a fairly small scale without heavy machinery. Spread gravel, mix and pour and level concrete. Swing hammers. Eat meat. You'll gain the muscles you need soon enough, as long as you get sleep and eat plenty of meat. You can start slow, but start somewhere.

This is good advice.

Check out Ido Flow on YT. Movement philosopher.

I have arrived at similar conclusions. The male body was designed to do these useful activities. Others are hanging from tree trunks to stretch out micro-fascia muscles and align the spine, along with hand stands for heart and organs and simple pullup/hangs for grip and upper body.

Press ups, squats and pull ups seem to be all you really need.

But lifting these heavy weights seems to me cause way more injuries and worse posture.

I think being outdoors in the sun has much more benefit. Helps regulated vitamin D levels and increases testerone which is vital for muscle growth. So any outdoor activities in the sun are probably much more effective.
