This post is mostly right but I disagree with the point.

Humans have basically only done capitalism and communism so far. The evidence shows barter has only existed alongside monetary systems. So it's reasonable of her to speculate that by beginning to move away from a monetary system you're emulating the natural communist system where people just do what needs to be done for survival and quality of life, including sharing a diversity of goods.

You intelligently expressed how you and her disagree on what capitalism means and you don't look at it in the same dichotomy, but you also seem to be missing some of what informed her viewpoint 🤙

Somehow I doubt the average reporter has a nuanced view of capitalism vs communism and how barter may or may not fit in or alongside either system.
