English isn't the first language to serve as a lingua franca, and there's nothing inherently special about it in that role. Its global spread has more to do with the legacy of the British Empire and the fact that it became dominant around the time the internet began to take shape. But as neural networks and AI continue to advance, English may gradually lose some of its global prominence.
That's an interesting thought. 👍
Perhaps the next international language for us will be created by AI, achieving what we couldn't with Esperanto, Ido, Eliundi, Ithkuil, and other constructed languages.
