Came to say that, if you really want to play on it, mod it to get backlight. I hesitate to do that for years on my original GBA but I know I will not play much more on it anyway. I have the SP and Micro with origibal backlight and still don't play much on it. I think I even played more GB/GBC games on Switch since they added the Gameboy emulator than on GBA, and GBA games I played them mostly on 3DS as I got most of the popular games for free on it.
I love the micro , but same don’t play much. I was thinking bringing it on a vacation and leaving the phone at home.
