Could pedophilia be the ultimate source of most or all our societal dysfunction? I dunno but it's possible.

Pedophilia is not the source. I would wager it's the result of not being held accountable for such a long time, with virtually unlimited power. So it's only natural to fall into such depravity, you end up doing the most taboo shit just because you can.
On the other hand, if you're a pedophile without power, that's likely because you were a victim of a pedophile yourself.
Yeah, I think it's more that abused people seek power so that they can safely continue abusing others. We really just climbed out of the dirt ~150 years ago (if that). How many generations does it take to undo centuries of poverty & abuse?
That's also a fair point, didn't consider the possibility of the abused seeking power to continue that cycle.
A bit personal here but what the hey:
I'm a guy, and I had a female babysitter of 14 years old while I was 9. Long story short, we did lots of experimenting, all from her initiative ofcourse as I was totally oblivious to what the hell we were doing haha. I never felt like this was abuse, luckily, and therefore have no power-seeking tendencies 😆
