I'm trying to switch back to Chrome from Firefox, but I'm finding that something is seriously mucking up snort, nostrgram, and iris. I can't tell if it's an Alby thing, browser, or other. I've cleared cache, cookies, you name it.

Is anyone else having trouble with nostr clients in Chrome?

Nope #[0]

I’m using Chrome, and haven’t had any problems with different Nostr clients.

It's working fine in Coracle.

Nope

Maybe try Brave and see whether the problems disappear 😁

(and nope - haven't seen issues with Chrome-related browsers)

😅

I had a weird issue with Iris that cleared up when I added a follower, to re-send my contact list event. Also, had to clear all time cookies, cache, etc.

Thanks. I’ve done the latter. I’ll try the former.

Meanwhile, everything is as it should be in Damus.

#[4] I've seen this issue repeat. I will have very little activity on Following even though my people are still marked as following on 'Global', always after coming back from being away overnight. It seems if I follow someone new it is fixed.

I've been using Brave browser exclusively for a few years & I've been more than pleased with its performance.

+Also, it helps more stack more sats.

I use NostrGram in Chrome daily without issue. I use Alby with it. What specific issues are you running into?

It’s bizarre. Despite having the correct private key in Alby and using extension sign in, nostrgram shows me an old account associated with a different priv key.

Ah ok. I think I know what that might be. Refresh NostrGram, logout, then use the extension to login again and let me know if you're back to normal. Just pushed a small change that I think will solve your problem.

How do I logout? I don't see an option. 😅

After using the extension to login there should be a right arrow at the far right of the menu's bar on top of the page.

I still don't see that arrow, but a few force refreshes, and I'm back in action. Thank you, sir!

Great!

Kiwi browser an option fam

Yes I have got issues to zap today with Alby. I signed out of both snort and nostrgram and then login again, and now all is back to normal, zaps are flowing

Maybe try Brave instead. And minimize extensions.

I've been having the same trouble over the last couple of days, wondered if it was just me or if a chrome update clashed with some core element of the three desktop clients above.

Very frustrating. I cleared cache *again*, and I’m back in business. And this after uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome.

Any other plug-in that might be clashing with it?

I only turn the plugins I actually use off and keep most of by default

Ie. If u have alby, nos2x, and ZEBEDEE etc… might clash etc…

Sorry keep most plugins off by default and turn on only the ones I’m about to use.

I don’t keep them on permanently.

Thanks. That was my default assumption, but apparently it was a very persistent cache problem.

Clients are very volatile across the clients. One day one works, the other another. Kind of got used to it.

And I'm using Chromium for one account and Firefox for another and it's hard to use nip07 on one browser with multiple accounts.

I've been deeply embedded in the Google ecosystem for a really long time, but was able to wean myself off of Chrome and move over to Firefox. It took a couple of tries but I would highly recommend trying to stick with it. For one, Google is disabling ad blockers on Chrome and is generally less secure than firefox.

That was my plan, but I ran into too many things that just don’t work properly on Firefox. But I didn’t know about Google’s plan to block blockers. I’m an AdBlock Premium subscriber. If that breaks, I’m out.

Another option is to use Pi-Hole, the network wide ad blocker. You can VPN into to home with OpenVPN if you want to use it on the go.

A good reminder to set this up again. I ran it long ago.
