I would say the one negative thing about many Bitcoiners is they are very close minded (myself included) to other things like Monero, While Bitcoin is obviously the most popular and in my opinion safest and best asset there is, that doesn't mean that other things can't have value.

I respect people on the Monero team, just as I respect people on the Bitcoin team, myself I'm on the Bitcoin team mostly, but I stay open minded.

Feel ya. Wonder if it means many btcers arent spending but hoarding ie monero better for spending and anonymity?

That is the Bitcoin mentality, stack and never sell.

No i disagree. There is a time for spending. But we are in an early price discovery phase of the greatest sound money ever to exist. SoV is the first era that’s all. There are many who use bitcoin daily in their lives.

I use Bitcoin daily to zap, I wish there was a way that I could ditch fiat all together and go Bitcoin only, but that's not possible in the US unfortunately, nor is with anything but fiat.

It’s changing fast. Within 5 years many businesses will accept sats

I really hope so! Excited to walk into a coffee shop and pay with sats.

Some “spend and replace”, others convert to bitcoin (from the fiat mines) all upfront, and spend judiciously.

You could live entirely off of Bitcoin/Crypto nowadays.

Only issue is that it's mostly indirectly through giftcards, and other workarounds.

Not directly yet but the ecosystem is so much better now than it was even 3 years ago.

Bitrefill is great

You would need to find an area with a good farmers market/lots of small ma and pa businesses that'd be willing to adopt it. I think it's actually very possible in USA you just gotta find the right community, probably a handful of places in America where it's already adopted to that extent

there are some.

but the VAST majority of Bitcoiners hodl because "generational wealth"

its a design problem.

It’s both. And it’s because fiat is so shit in value

I don't know man, I was spending bitcoins before I ever heard anyone say anything about it being a store of value.

This writing being public and permeant I probably shouldn't go into details.

I was about 16 or 17 when I started exchanging and spending bitcoins for things online.

You helped give it value

Yeah, I think most people who have Bitcoin think of it like stocks rather than money

dont let the hostile bitcoiners stop you from exploring new things, nothing really good comes from never wanting to open your mind, im primarily a monero guy myself but im not gonna denounce anyone for using bitcoin, even i know it still has its own value and way of things, both have their edge cases, the pros of monero is the amazing privacy, and my personal favorite is the very low fees, which makes it work pretty well as digital cash, not to mention since all transactions on the monero block chain are obscured theres no such thing as "tainted coins" if you know what that is. although monero suffers from not being too accessible to the average person for a couple of different reasons, mainly from being delisted from most exchanges, but other than that hurdle i think its pretty easy to use.

This is cool, people have been nice and sent me like $6 in Monero already, I have the monero.com wallet, I see you can buy gift cards in it (I can buy a burger at $10) but how else would you sell it though? What can you do with it on a daily basis?

im glad the community has been welcoming so far 💪

theres a bunch of ways, thers a pretty cool site called xmrbazaar which is a site where you can sell or buy things for monero, hire people, pay people for work, or just whatever random thing thats on there lol. theres also another site called monerica which is a huge list of services that accept xmr. and then theres retoswap if you wish to sell your xmr to fiat or swap it into any other crypto you want, it runs on tor so its pretty private too.

That's really cool

yeah the monero economy is growing everyday which is pretty awesome to see, theres even yearly events where vendors get together to sell things for xmr. i hope you continue to research and learn more about monero, happy to see you look into it 👍

there is a reason why several governments are trying to remove monero from everyday use, mainly in Europe.

it is said that all governments in the world are afraid of monero, as many consider it the first currency in which its value no longer depends on the state. the mere idea of how monero works is already a danger for all financial sectors as they do not have any control over that asset.

since with monero, some consider that with it, the same thing will happen that happened when the church separated from the state.

I appreciate this attitude

XMR bois can be asshole maxis too 😂

People get uptight about "their thing" it's human nature I guess, just received another $18 from someone, freaking legends.

monero community mostly still has a pretty laid back and helpful vibe, like old Bitcoin

except me, I tell maxis they're full of shit every day

I think anytime anyone decides that they have found the one end all be all and close there mind to other options, is a big mistake.

It's ok to love something, but once you start obsessing over it, and deciding that everyone else is stupid for picking something else, that's very dangerous.

Don't matter what it is.

my beef is the suspension of critical thinking.

like you said, maximalism means that you stop thinking and just repeat memes all day.

the only reason we got here in the 1st place is because people thought adversarialy.

we have to continue in that spirit.

Bitcoin is like a religion.

That's how it feels sometimes.

Very dogmatic.

I think it's because as a group "bitcoiners" have been ostracized and targeted by the authorities and "normies"

When you talk about Bitcoin people even now assume you're using it for illegal or immoral activities.

That treatment from outsiders tends to push a group in and make them more suspicious of outsiders, stricter "loyalty" and "purity" tests to protect the group.

You’re a sick Pedophile
