My dad was always very tolerant of gay culture when I was growing up, and suddenly he started making weird homophonic comments. A few months later he had divorced my mom and came out as gay. I get the argument that children need a mother and a father, but beyond that I say live and let live.

I do consider that very homophonic.
A lot of Christians are closet gays due to the over repression and stigmatization of sex and sexuality. So, instead of being able to heterosexually expend their sexual energies, they bottle up and sometimes release around other men in the same situation. Laser seems to be a Christian.
