Massive tension. And yes experience very different. 1 Week ago, if user posts “I’m sad”, they got support, got hugs, got replies, got post liked, got sent sats. This experiment for me almost, cause made me think..🤔… so 3 of my 600+ followers liked, bothered ask why, or reply, no zap. Why is that? 1 week ago, id like to believe more users would have (additionally, I watched it w my own 👀 eyes). When people posted notes saying they were sad 1 week ago, our response to them was CARING, KIND, GENUINE, & MULTIPLE… so where is that? Since our “value” became “monetized”, our spirits became null.

This has been a fatal mistake, I will stop trying to debate it because they always find a way to turn it around. I am thinking about a lot of things, it seems a superficial issue but this has brought things to light (that I sometimes intuited but did not give importance to) and now they are clear.

Sad 😞

Thank you #[3]

I appreciate you 🫶🫂

Think that’ll be all I say about this. I said my piece, & your correct, time move forwards 🫡🙂

I’m still set to only-zap in the interest of testing and novelty, but I agree completely that likes are an important (and maligned) component of a digital-social space.

In the meantime, trying to write thoughtful comments or at minimum post an emoji where I would have previously just 🤙’d

Weird. I have experienced the exact opposite in the past 2 days. I'm getting more responses, more support and more sats...

I keep replying to notes just as much as did before this change.

I won’t change that at all. Nostr is about building community.

Ferret, if you posted a note saying I’m sad, I did not see it (maybe I was sleeping). You can be 100% sure I would have been in your comments sending you hugs and love.

Hi Ferret. Thank you for taking the time to provide insight into your feelings and for shedding light on your perspective. I’m sorry that you feel like things have changed and that you feel as though your experience and people have changed with it.

In your next note you mention that you check people’s “onlyzap” status before you reply. I’m not sure why that matters to you and how you could assess why someone would turn it on.

Here is my story. I have come here to connect with people in an attempt to show the world that we do not need to be mediated. I have come here to share my voice in the hopes that I can provide some value. I am here, anonymously, because I have never been able to speak without someone prejudging me for where I come from.

I have never been able to connect with people on social media, because I have never been confident enough to contribute. I have always been a scroll, like, and consume user. This is because I have always felt like my voice didnt matter and my perspective, based on a world many don’t understand, was not worth as much.

By turning on onlyzaps, it forces me to comment more, repost more, and engage more. I found myself falling into old habits. I was scrolling and liking too much. The reason I have enjoyed this space so much is because of the conversations.

You and I have had conversations, not just exchanging likes, but talks that provide me with insight into who you are. There is nothing monetary about it and it hasn’t changed.

I hope you can see that there are many reasons why someone would turn it on and there may be reasons you are missing. I hope you stay in the space, as you add a lot of value you care deeply about people and you have the opportunity to build the experience you want to have.

I’m fucking 🫂ing all of you.
