RELAYS HAVE EVOLVED!

Nostr relays have evolved beyond their initial role as dumb pipes or simple databases. Today, the Nostr ecosystem is home to a variety of specialized relays, each offering unique functionalities.

What unique relays exist on Nostr? Here are a few:

wss://gm.swarmstr.com - A relay for GMs only

wss://catstrr.swarmstr.com - Cat pics and content about cats

wss://questions.swarmstr.com - A questions only relay

This type of relay category is very new, but will grow over time.

And then we have WoT relays or relays that operate with a Web-of-Trust, brining less spam to users in a more trusted and safer environment. Here are several WoT relays:

To fully leverage these relay advancements, we now need new sets tools that can make the most of these new features. It's time for relay management and relay explorers to take on a more prominent role within our clients. These tools can help users discover, explore, and even rate relays, encouraging greater decentralization of content on Nostr. This also opens up exciting new opportunities for how users find, engage with, and share information in new and unique ways.

What relay implementations make it easy to enforce minimum proof-of-work? I want to run one.

This is a great question and I don't have a good answer for to, but I do agree that this would make a nice relay style. Set a minimum PoW.

In my case, it’s for a website where users can post pseudonymously via a randomly generated Nostr keypair. Nostr isn’t the focus, just the means of communication. So my relay needs to filter by kind (easy) but I also need PoW enforcement to prevent spam.

Thanks, but not quite. My work-in-progress site will allow users to compare two, randomly selected Magic the Gathering cards and pick one. I’m going to use a custom kind number, empty content, and the payload choice information will be tags.

Way back in the day, like 20 years ago, there were sites that let users pick among images like this. One was called thefairestinfo. The other I recall was thefunniestinfo.

Of course, by allowing anon visitors to post images, they didn’t last forever. I’m thinking can bring back the concept in limited form by using a curated image set and deterring spam with Proof-of-Work.

Do it have continuity having like 5 relays for one thing and 5 for another and then like that just again and again.

Are these paid ones or WoT ones more used bcs of less spam or just free relays wins?

Would like to know where I have biggest chance to that my note will be seen on other side of #Nostr or it will be just sitting in the background of #Nostr

Or do I just using nostrband in wrong way?

To access all of the unique content relays, you'd need to add them to profile or use a client like Coracle that allows feeds to be configured for a specific relay.

As for th WoT relays, the owner of the relays needs to follow you or one of their follows follows you. Then you can write to it. All are public and free to use.
