Is using a coldcard without SD cards any better than a ledger?
You have to use an SD card to use a cold card.
Ohh. Expecting one in the mail soon, but didn't order anything other than the mk4. No cards or cords. I guess this won't do anything.

Coldcard also only works with the PSBT standard. How you use a Ledger depends on how your wallet has implemented the Ledger integration, or if you are using Ledger’s native wallet software. Greater opportunity for things to go wrong with a Ledger since it’s supporting more formats than just the PSBT standard.
The market will sort it out. 🤷🏼♂️
QR is even better security - akin to using a new SD card for every transaction.
If you can use qr code on coldcard mk4 why even own 9volt battery, SD card etc?

The SD card enables airgapped usage where you create the transaction in your read only wallet and then sign it on your Coldcard via SD so your private keys never touch anything that accesses the internet. Higher security level

Highly highly recommend going air gapped w/ SD Card. No need to introduce any additional attack vector whenever you can avoid it.
This is why blatantly recommending cuckcard to everyone without assessing personal needs is dumb.

The MK4 w/ SD airgap is a clear upgrade to your Ledger.

I use Coldcards, love ‘em
They use shady marketing that wouldn't be accepted by plebs with any other company;
1. They promoted that wiping their device to create a Multisig was "unsafe"; rather you need to buy a separate CuckCard for each signature.
So 3of5; they basically scam marketed people into buying 6 devices (one unused backup).
SO MANY PLEBS FELL FOR THIS CRAP.
Not only is it safe to do this with one single device, it is recommended to verify one device then use it to setup the Multisig - wipe it - then store it as a dummy device meanwhile you've abstracted the seeds geographically - hopefully on 316L steel.
2. They currently offer "multi vendor Multisig" bundles - which are not multivendor Multisig by the standard definition we all use.
This scam marketing is leveraging the term but changing it's definition, this is potentially concerning for unwitting customers.
3. They state on their website that they're the only airgap Bitcoin only cold storage device. Hopefully I don't have to expand on this one...
4. They claimed QR codes were not secure for PSBT, or not as secure as the SD card implementation.
This year NVK (finally) admitted that QR is equal security to USING A NEW SD CARD FOR EACH PSBT.
Yes, he's literally saying if you wanted to mimic QR PSBT security standards you'd be throwing SD cards away 🤣.
5. Do you - but accepting these tactics is just gross - at least push back on the company a little 🤔.
not to mention them changing their licenses from GPL. and have recently been fudding Foundation Passport, and seedsigner in the past. seems like bad faith shitty behavior.
It’s always good to pull anyone up on things you don’t believe are right. And I buy my SD cards elsewhere. But i love their actual main products
