- peer reviewed changes

- latest features (bitcoin-node multiprocess)

- performance improvements

- policies more aligned with consensus for more accurate fee estimation

- detect theft of coins (attackers could now exploit knots users by hiding theft with large op_returns)

- incentive aligned to encourage protocols to not stuff garbage in non-op_return outputs

- less knobs so that users don't open themselves up to attacks (like above) and spam incentivization

- project not managed by an unstable person with a hero complex with security practices so bad they lost 200+ btc on an unprotected server

Multiprocessing is underrated.

And if people are still big mad about spam they can just drop `-datacarrier=80` in their config.

yup, there's even a PR to undeprecate it on core since people are worried about that

Hey, this sounds awesome! 🙌 Love the focus on security and performance. Can't wait to see how these updates improve the experience. Big ups for keeping things safe and efficient! 🚀💪 #Bitcoin

I said their BEST argument. Not their dumbest arguments

not wanting to incentivize utxo spam is dumb?

> detect theft

This one is dumb and disingenuous.

I'm assuming you're talking about me finding your key and stealing your money without your node ever "knowing".

1. People don't have alerts set up for their own addresses. Not a bad idea, not something anyone does.

2. If you can stuff data in op_return to hide your tx from knots, I can just make a different kind of non-standard tx to hide it from core. Libre relay is more permissive than core, so it doesn't even necessarily require direct to miner interaction.

You're reaching.

> Not a bad idea, not something anyone does.

what? i do

fair on the non-standard thing, but that just is more of an argument for libre-relay

the proper way to code it is to accept anything that touches your keys even if it is not standard, not sure if core currently does that.

How do you do it? How do you get notified?

walletnotify script that sends a nostr note to the damus push notification relay (which doesn't write anything to disk).

technically this exposes my utxos to APNS so i want to update this to an end-to-end encrypted giftwrap note once i have that.

Incentive aligned? Sort of hard to do that without doing away with the segwit discount.

Less knobs? Guess that's one way to phrase "removes choice from the user."

I guess nice to see someone lay things out there other than some of the regular slop on twitter. I for one prefer to steer clear from community driven software wherever possible. One need only look at Debian for good reasons to run.

Luke's no saint, but the mud being flung from Lopp has been a sight to see, shitcoin apologist that he is.

With any luck this tears core apart. If one thing is very clear it's that no individual or group is worthy of being the one true reference implementation. Knots needn't win, and I'd like to see more implementations arise, but Core's time to go is upon us.
