Using markdown formatting in notes? Compelling or annoying? #asknostr
Discussion
So you can add markdown to any note. The client can choose to render it. #asknostr
I know, I've just been playing around with it and since most don't use it the notes look out of place to me. I wasn't sure if it looks compelling or annoying.
_Some_ markdown was used in the very early days of the bb servers **to draw attention** so people as old as me can read mark down βlightβ
Nostur on iOS renders markdown. And it looks great!
Until someone goes full header1.
Never go full header1.
Yeah, I type it in, but I like it unrendered, for Kind 01. I'd turn it off, if someone implemented it there. Entire feed would be a circus.
If I need to `formatCode` I will.
I use it daily. This convo went on back in the day, and Markdown support in clients won. That said, it depends on how you use it. I still think the headline # renders text too big in Amethyst, so I prefer bold instead. Either way, IMO Markdown in notes is essential (especially for long-form notes).
You also have an eye for design and some class.
Imagine all of the ALLCAPS TEXT now appearing as H1 or bold. π
Markdown, yes!
A little goes a long way.
Some clients don't recognise it.
What about AsciiDoc?

It's a must.
My profile and the "Index" to my channel only work in Amethyst (and Garnet) because those ate the only clients that render markdown AND edits.
