How do you imagine that Nostr could/will break out into the mainstream?

Off the top of my head, not mutually exclusive; The usability will be easier and better than Twitter/Facebook. It will be much easier to monetize your content, kids wanna get paid. Canceled ppl with large followings migrate. Ppl seeking ID portability/ownership. Ppl and business seeking interoperability with other types of uses (more than social media).
That's a fairly plausible confluence of events. I can also see Nostr at the very least in the medium term applying some healthy competitive pressure on big tech not to be so bad in all of those areas.
I tend to believe the next big censorship crisis. Imagine nostr in June 2020.
Yes, indeed, might've been some very different outcomes if it had been around then. I've wondered if another crisis might be the catalyst, too. But on the other hand, the landscape is very different with Elon in control of Twitter now and the pressure that the Twitter Files release might exert to counter or reverse some of the censorious trends in big tech. In any case, glad this is here as a safeguard whatever happens.
IMO just integrating all your other social friends both online and IRL into Nostr, educating them for set up, zaps, etc and then they will start getting hooked. From there it’ll be about introducing other features as needed depending on what the apps want to ‘be’
So just a slow, organic build as word spreads. I just wonder what will cause more people to substitute this for Facebook or Twitter. Or maybe it really will become interoperable with one or both of those...

Also as a follow up, just checked into Insta to compare what’s happening there on a Friday night versus Nostr. (No offence to my friends on there BYW) but it’s: Insta: reposting bday messages from your friends to get more likes, reposting photos of your child with food on their face from your husband to get more likes…on Damus: actual conversations with ppl I’ve never met about musicals we should see, places we should visit while in Costa Rica, comparing games we played while growing up… all with ppl iver never met and aren’t fishing for ‘likes’ 💜 that is all
Bitcoin maxis reach consensus that it's not worth spamming Nostr with an orgaistic Bitcoin ad every 2nd post. Nocoiners who login start to find their signal and stick around. A guy can dream.
It will re.ain a small project f or a while as we iron out the kinks with a base of people with a taste for jumping tech fences. Polish it up a d make it really solid- if we can provide monetary benefits + good virality it could take off on its own.
Otherwise people will move as a reaction to some event. Seems to be the catalyst for alot of social media moves the last 3 years.
