The recent thread about mostr reminded of the wisdom of Godwin’s law. Throwing around broad and extreme labels for people you disagree with serves to other them and make actual understanding less likely. It’s not helpful regardless of your political views. The world is not black and white. Especially when it comes to people, culture, and politics.
The corollary of Godwin’s law is the first person to mention hitler or nazis loses.

As an engineer I always try to debug how did the person ended up with such opinion/idea even when I think it's stupid/wrong. More often than not I learn something new.
And then sometimes you just have to tell people to go fuck themselves with a rake...
It's a form of lying. I was recently leading a discussion with teen's on truthfulness. This is one of the examples I gave because it clearly dominates most people's political speech. Folks think that's just how your supposed to view things.
