I'd love to hear how loading performance is for anyone with a slower Internet connection. The work we did should provide a smoother experience even on slow networks.
Good evening, fellow Nostriches.
We at #GitCitadel are proud to announce that #Alexandria has basically stayed the same, despite our making major changes under the hood. π
You might notice a slight difference, when loading large publications. It now loads as you scroll down the page, rather than loading all at once. This means that you can load really large and deep publications without your browser freezing up.
This was a major change in the architecture, by our Product Owner and lead Alex developer, nostr:npub1wqfzz2p880wq0tumuae9lfwyhs8uz35xd0kr34zrvrwyh3kvrzuskcqsyn, and was a prerequisite to a number of other changes. Development should move more quickly, now. Thank you for your patience.

I have a slow network, unfortunately.
The biggest improvement I see is that it never takes more than a few seconds to start reading, and I no longer have to reload to see the publication. I also like that it displays a message for events that are missing from the relays, as I sometimes got confused, otherwise.
About halfway down the book, I start having to click the button at the bottom, to see the next chapter, which is tedious. And the _Penteteuch_ is in some sort of doom loop. π Woops.
Here are some good choices, for testing the new loader.
_Joan of Arc_ by Mark Twain is complete.
_Genesis_ in the KJV is incomplete. So, you can see how the info message looks, on that one.
When you say the Pentateuch is in a room loop, what do you mean?
Additionally, we can fine-tune the number of events we fetch on each load cycle. If we fetch a few at once, rather than just one (as currently), we can reduce the number of times you have to click "Load More". Sections can vary dramatically in length, so we'll want to do more intelligent loading in the future.
Some of the books seem to be missing, so it just shows the first one over and over.

I live in a super rural area so my internet generally sucks. Everything I clicked was pretty quick except the βbook of wisdom douay-rheims-bible versionβ didnβt open at all after 4 minutes. Maybe that one is just messed up idk
Let me go try that one...
It could just be me!
Yup. It's messed-up.
nostr:npub1wqfzz2p880wq0tumuae9lfwyhs8uz35xd0kr34zrvrwyh3kvrzuskcqsyn it's got the e-tags, instead of the newer a-tags. We might have broken backward-compatibility, but we need to be able to handle e-tags to index other kinds.
I'll test with that publication as I work on improvements, then.
Do you know your average internet speed, by the way? I can artificially slow down the network in my browser, for testing purposes, and it would be good to have a benchmark for that.
