Is there a way to just not have any bots in my Nostr experience? It was a huge part of why I left each of the legacy socials in turn and honestly the more I block bots here the more seem to turn up and I'm realizing there's only like 10 other actual human beings here.

Primal app doesn’t seem to have a bot problem. One way to get rid of it is to remove the relays you have which are not filtering out the bots. Also try adding web of trust relays instead.
Thank you for the advice, I got a few paid relays set up which helped me with the spam but I still see mostly bot content. I have not had success on Primal in avoiding bots, there even the bots I block always show back up liking and following me.
I don't really understand web of trust? I thought using the paid relays was about getting that?
You have to remove your relays and then try adding them back one by one to see which relay is showing you the spam. So add a relay then restart the app. Is the spam there? If not, add another relay and check. Eventually you’ll find out which one is the problem. Then you can just drop that relay.

I have no paid #relays. i have around 30 that I use. I #follow #hashtags and #people and that's all I look at. occasionally some #bots appear and I #block them. and, I occasionally broadcast my npub with this tool: https://nostr-broadcast.pages.dev/

I like amethyst a lot. But apparently some of the hashtags I follow might be bot central so I'm going to clean them up sometime tonight
That sounds like a good plan. I don't follow any hashtags and i never see bot content, only sporadically in replies to notes.
That or maybe they just have me fooled real good. 🤔
When I don't follow hashtags I don't really see much stuff in line with my interests, so it's disappointing that they're so captured by bots. Current status: no hashtags, no bots, almost exclusively Bitcoin and dev content 🤣 it's still better than the Primal trending list tho I guess 🤷♀️

I started on default relays but think I got the attention of not so nice folks and started getting flooded with bots and spam until a friend suggested paid relays which mostly fixed the problem
