Damn mybad bro

🀣🀣🀣 I’m just calling out the practice, not the individuals but yea.. think about it..

I mean I'm tryna make fans over here so yea, I am engagement farming

It's also just fun

Thought about it! Thx!

Def gonna work my fren!

Is that sarcastic lmao

NOOOOO omggg why y’all think I’m being sarcastic over this 🀣🀣🀣

Cause your main argument was there's no value in engagement farming hahah mybad πŸ’œπŸ«‚

Ohh yeah it’s def not valuable to the participants in the same way it is for the creators of the contest, that’s 10000%, id much rather the participants genuinely provide value & receive value based on that.

Kinda agree

Real or sarcastic? I can play devil’s advocate for this argument πŸ’œ

Def reallllll hahah cmon give it to me

Positive arguments for zap contests:

β€’ Possibly connecting new people that weren’t aware of one another before

β€’ Creating a more fun and competitive environment, making it a creative challenge

β€’ Getting to spread zaps around and making people feel rewarded for their creativity and effort on here, possibly inspiring them to make more content on their own

β€’ Getting experience organising and hosting a mini-event online, and what are the ins and outs of it

β€’ Great chance for newer and less-followed users to get their name out there, as there is not a β€œdiscovery” or algo to push their content otherwise

I kind of agree.

But also, if a content creator, or even an advertiser, wants to offer some satoshis in exchange for attention, isn’t that in keeping with the v4v-style improvements over the legacy algorithmic ads/engagement model?

If they’re a brand/content creator than it’s in their favor to engagement farm all day I believe..

To a degree, at least!

I’m thinking about the (very blurry) line between marketing and engagement farming - isn’t the latter just a style of the former?

If a brand that I’m slightly interested in is willing to pay me to learn about them, that feels like a choice I have the power to make as a financial actor

If I have no interest in the brand, then my attention isn’t worth the sats (or I’d require more compensation).

Not saying I’ll β€œsell out” my attention as a general rule, but the user should have the choice.

I much prefer this to the β€œyou have no real control over what ads you see or which advertisers track you” model

Oh yeah I completely agree with you!! & I’ll def add that some ppl are selling their attention for a couple sats rn to repost someone’s agenda which they might not even fully understand yet, which is why I’m saying that type of engagement farming isn’t as valuable for the participants as it is for the creator, but they’ve yet to see that.. they instead as participants in the protocol should be encouraged to provide their own value in whatever way is most genuine to them and receive value for that.. it’s the way

Definitely - the participation & creating value of your own is the core here 🎯

I’ve definitely noticed the differences too - β€œrepost and like for sats” versus something like the posts that have a playful nature and sats rewards

Very interesting point you made about who gets the most value from it, too. I wonder how long it will take to find a market equilibrium there. Especially with satoshis so criminally undervalued right now πŸ˜‚

Dont think just zap⚑️

I find it fun to give away sats. A contest seems like a fun engaging way to do that. I’ve had fun with other’s contests. I guess anyone with an LNURL is zap farming really.πŸ˜•

There’s diff types of contest, im speaking about the most basic ones but yeah should’ve maybe explained it a lil better lol

ser, there’s. gimme 2 first 🀣
