Easily one of my fave movies
I worked with Joe on Oblivion as animation supervisor, another underrated movie. He’s great. Started as a 3d Studio Max artist and moved up the ranks to director, so he knows VFX. Great eye too.
Great movie. Both the newer one and the original. I still remember watching the first one. The ideas were cool but it looked kinda goofy. I remember there was a npc or something that looked like a pancake and it literally had me dying laughing 😂
Jeff Bridges was 33 when the original Tron movie was released in 1982. Here he is sending his first #zap.

Yes and no. 😅
Does it live up to expectations set by TRON? No way. I think the biggest issue (though not the only one) is probably that it tries to skip decades into the future, and to do that abandons and avoids having any substantial real world changes following TRON.
Pretty good graphics, though.
Story isn't *terrible*, but not great either. Seems there's more propaganda than logic in it.
To fully follow it, IMO you need to get through the cartoon series in between the movies.
I had no idea there was also a cartoon that links them. 😅

It is well worth a watch. Lots of eye candy cinematography. Much of the spiritual allegory and philosophizing throughout the film was either flat or unnessicarily on the nose, so it lacks gravitas, but overall a fun film and excellent score.
Think I had a Tron PS2 game but it’s like in the deepest crevasse of my memory and I can’t find anything online. Please tell me someone else knows what I’m talking about.

I loved the sequel and sincerely hope they make more. They are pure art.
Fun Fact. Tron the original had some graphics and most sound effect done on an Atari 800 home computer.

I love this movie so much, it was the first science fiction film I ever saw. I watched it in cinemas with my father and I couldn’t wait to show my sister when it came out on blu ray. When it did we watched it at home and it was so cool seeing the aspect ratio increase in size once sam enters Tron. Unsure if any digital versions show that.
Truly underrated, the light cycles are fucking awesome and the soundtrack is brilliant and fitting. Best song has to be “end of line”.
I hope it’s better than the second. The second was a disappointment follow up to a legendary movie
