Agree with you 💯. I did the same last year and started using Breez for similar reasons. Running the new nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 is still running a node, it’s just a node on your phone, and the channels are not public. So it’s not intended to route, only to send/receive your own payments.
I’m gonna close all my LN channels and only use nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 !
What’s the point of running a LN node if you only have 5-10 channels and not routing?

Yea, running a small public node is a great experiment and a great way to learn about lightning and more about bitcoin, but at some point the risks to your funds and the losses incurred on channel closures outweighs the educational/learning benefits. The good thing is, whenever a situation comes up that you do need a public node, now you have that knowledge and firsthand experience to fall back on.
