Musk wants X to be the Wechat of the west. Fuck that shit.

Isn't nostr also wechat in a way? This platforn can also do a but of everything. Except this platform doesnt harm the user.

i'll pass, thanks.

It's hilarious to see that there are still people who think that government is on their side.

L take, the gov having power works really well in china. Theu can even block you from buying train tickets if you say jnconvenient stuff. Having anonymous accounts works really well and makes the internet a great place to be. Lets just stop discussing what the best way to get screwed over is and start fighting those ID laws.

Looks like Elon has been reading some Austrian economics literature. Still, both guys are wrong.

Public/private keys are the way to go. You retain privacy of your data, but you’re not free from accountability, especially on social media. If you lie, cheat, or steal, the receipts are public — just not always attributed to a legal name.

Governments are indeed worse than most corporations, having a monopoly on violence and money, but technocratic empires can be arguably worse: they possess all the data, all the information leverage, they’re smarter than most politicians and they can cover their tracks better. At least you can see the gun in the government’s hand. The algorithm’s leash? You don’t even notice it’s there.
