If any of you happen to live near one of those Wonder food halls that seem to be opening up everywhere and you’re wondering to yourself if it could possibly be any good, please allow me to assure you that it is not. I finally broke down and used one of their $20 coupons, and I have nothing but regrets.

What is it like an Italian trattoria? I've not seen any here in Chicagoland

No, it’s basically a crappy VC-backed tech startup run by Marc Lore pretending to be a restaurant. They raised some insane amount of capital, like $600 million at a $7 billion valuation to produce on-demand dishes created by celebrity chefs, but they’re all made off-site in a massive ghost kitchen warehouse and basically reheated and assembled when you order them and served in-house or delivered DoorDash-style. And on top of that, their business model seems to just be to destroy local family owned restaurants.

I thank you for letting me know this now and it doesn't sound like anything I'd want to eat at as well. I'd rather go to a family restaurant and enjoy their higher quality food, service, and ambiance.

Dang. I really enjoyed it. The burrito and bowl option was bigger and better than Chipotle.

Well, I didn’t try their Mexican food, I went the Chinese route for my first go-round, because if you fuck up a dish as simple as beef with broccoli or sesame chicken, you don’t get a do-over. App deleted.

lol fair enough.

Try the poke and fried chicken if you get it again, but it sounds like this Chinese food ruined your week.

Nah, don’t plan to ever give them another chance. I live in a place where I can get outstanding poké and fried chicken and burritos, made by real people who actually care about making quality food.

What are you referring to?

Details in the thread.

They own grubhub and relay (delivery drivers) now too, and ratcheted up the cost to operators like crazy. The mafia would have been more gentle.

My apologies to you, a restauranteur, for this offense. I just had to be sure it was as disappointing as I thought it would be. In that respect, it did not disappoint.

lol. I've been curious what their product offering is actually like. One person I heard called it Airplane food 😂

That may even be a bit too generous.
