I don't think we have a problem. You can use a custodian for Zaps and transfer to your own node or self custodial wallet.
It's probably not a good thing to make *everyone* move to a custodian. We know what happens here. And, it's also not good to confuse new users by telling them to use two wallets.
Zeus is fixing this with their latest app beta. We'll need more implementations here though, like you said, to better protect ourselves. Why? Zeus is still a custodian of their LN address. Their server could get hacked and have all LN addresses redirected to one wallet. It would turn into a huge honey pot if everyone were to use the same solution.
Thanks Derek!! Helpful!! 🤙🤝

I think there's some speculation around the zaplocker and congestion with a bunch of pending HTLCs (payments). It's a *potential* problem as channels are limited when they start holding a bunch of pending payments. Upon redemption of the hold invoice that capacity is freed up.
But honestly, let's break some stuff. Better to break it now and fix it than break it when things get more mainstream.
Ok then! Hey hoarder, opening a channel to Zeus is not working for me, any clue why? I opened a channel with 7 no problem last night so I’m not doing it wrong.. am I missing a step perhaps? I go to Zeus beta -
Open channel
Open channel with Olympus, add 1,000,000 sats for the channel open
Then it gives me an error message
Any clue?
Zeus's Olympus node won't accept channel opens from Tor only nodes and I think they are requiring a 1 BTC node capacity minimum as well as being whitelisted. That's my understanding.
