Would a built-in tailscale client make sense? Now I have to turn it on by hand. It's a minor inconvenience, but still.

You can use the Shortcut apps on iOS to create an action that enabled Tailscale and opens Zeus.
Similar things are possible on Android too.
Have you tried LND Connect?
