People who ring you on the phone instead of texting first, think:

"I don't care if you might be busy with something, stop everything you're doing, and talk to me right now." RUDE.

For old people, fine, this is how they always did things and it's hard to change.

You might want to look at it from another angle. Text messages by law are kept by the carrier in storage for 2 years & through the telecommunication act if the government of any form from police to the highest need to access you for any reason by this act the carrier must comply & cannot deny the government from accessing your telecommunications. Back in the days people we're told call me if you need to talk text me if there's an emergency so theres plenty of 20-40s growing up with that instilled in them.

Also not everyone wants to leave a record of conversations through text so one day you could get pissed off at them & mess with their lives. What you think in your note of what you think people who call people think is the first i've ever heard of. As a person who prefers to call to talk instead of text I don't think that & i'm sure everyone else who prefers to call over text doesn't think that way.

Also your note could be assumed in vice versa. I work & do lots of different things throughout the day & I use my hands a lot. So when people text out a whole conversation to me the first thought in my mind is I gotta call this person later because I don't have 2 minutes to write a text because i'm busy doing things. This is why you call back later so when you're thinking that when someone calls you just text them i'll call you later.

Imagining you saying all this on the phone while Parman’s currently busy with something πŸ˜‚

Or - "I miss Parman. I love that guy, I'd love to hear his voice. I'm sure he feels the same. It's been too long. I have 5 min, I'll see if he's free. If not he can decline the call and call me back later if he wants. It's as good as sending a text message seeing if he's free to talk anyway, why add extra steps to making a connection?"

Nah, book a slot on my calandar, and leave a $50 deposit 😜

Charge $ 10,000 per hour to let people know what your time is really worth. $50 means no calls. 10k says fuck you, I'm worth it.

nah, if you're free, you answer. If you're busy they wont mind you calling back.

Could be because voice is more suited to the subject, or an emergency, or more humane.

If you cant be distracted- silent mode. You can also whitelist emergency contacts.

I feel like a chat so I'm calling. Decline the call if you're not up for it... simple and no offense.

Well, that'll convert your ring tone permanently to silent

Old people used the landline tho, so when they were busy somebody else would pick up and simply take a message, kinda similar to texting.

Thats what DND is for

Thank goodness for voicemail.

Oh - you didn't leave a voicemail? It mustn't be that important.

I'm on the older end of the Gen X generation. I think texting is one of the greatest inventions ever. I don't have to talk to anyone on the phone unless it's absolutely necessary, how fantastic is that! Even worse than talking on the phone is video calls. I have one mate of mine always video calls me & gets annoyed when I don't answer. I'm like "why the fuck would I want to look at your big fat head & talk to you on my phone when I can just text you instead". He still does it though. πŸ˜‚
