How's Damus holding up without gossip? Is it able to find notes now that they don't exist on the central hub? Or is this fake news. Good move by the way, this is a great stress test of the network architecture.
I rarely see missed notes. People who use damus broadcast notes they are replying to.
Anecdotally, I occasionally miss notes on Damus but I would say it’s more frequent than rarely. Usually missing the root note when I see a reply. Probably because other clients don’t broadcast the root. Gossip model (or relay rendezvous, as Mike calls it) in all clients would be great.

i think not having relays to rely on makes it challenging - i refer to my book reviews plenty, i am sure it will be harder for content creators. And not everyone live in countries where they can have their own relays as their equipment can get confiscated on a whim. If relays are going to get nuked or migrated, change of hands etc, perhaps some time frame and guideline to mirroring data to other relays needs to be provided.
