I’m an ENT. You need some ofloxacin drops! 4-5 drops twice daily (assuming it’s swimmers ear which is a lot more likely than a middle ear infection in climates like Uvita)

Think it might be middle ear given how strong the headaches are alas

Stand on your head, recite the Bitcoin whitepaper 21 times, and then do this:

When I had a really bad ear infection in 2021 I got prescribed amoxicillin and it helped almost immediately.

I didn’t know adults got ear infections.

Lol … i was gonna ask how do you say it’s the middle ear. You were probably busy planning the event, you’re probably a little sick, take decongestant over the counter. Also see if they have theraflu nighttime or something. If there’s fluid or pus or pain you’ll need antibiotics. Increase fluids regardless @jack

We all had an earache when a virus went through the house in January. Oragano oil capsules (piping rock) and colloidal silver nasal spray (mesosilver) does the trick. Amoxicillin didn't even touch it.

I think you need to work on the underlying cause that led to ear infection. If there’s headache on either side or on the sides of nose take the nasal

Decongestants along with theraflu tea ā˜•ļø pr any symptomatic pain relief before bed. My recommendation is you start asap don’t

Wait till tomorrow to get antibiotics. But get the antibiotics too later the one ent suggested to end the infection if there is one. @jack

If the underlying cause is a virus then antibiotics probably won't help much because they're too broad spectrum and nasopharyngeal inflammation is the primary cause of inner ear pressure. Because the eustachian tubes are prone to bacterial infection over the two to three week viral cycle, a direct antibacterial and carbohydrate-free remedy is a more direct and effective approach. A limited and well metered application of colloidal silver reduces the bacterial population in the nasal passage. Orageno oil capsules dissolve in the stomach and leave an insoluble layer of oil in the gastric juice and provides an adequate disinfectant action on the bacterial laden nasal drip which periodically is regurgitated by coughing and otherwise would apply a continuous bacterial aggravation to the virally infected mucosal surfaces.

Thanks for the explanation it makes sense, just based on my training in medicine and experience working with patients and colleagues along with under supervision when needed, im providing my insight. There isn’t anything as too broad spectrum, Jack os getting an upper respiratory infection, ear infection whether he has it or not is part of the upper respiratory system, this means that augmentIn or amoxicillin will work because those are the recommended antibiotics for upper respiratory Infection. You can read more on upper respiratory system. However there’s circumstances when antibiotics aren’t an option. When antibiotics such as a child under 10 or someone with severe allergy to those drugs, herbal may benefit in such circumstances although I’ve never seen it, but it may happen

The ear anatomy explanation is great, thank you for that. But short and sweet and to the point correct answer is that nasal passages swelling or inflammation ( the other word for it) is mostly

Because of either cold, allergies, overworking Yourself, lack of sleep or all the above. To reduce swelling or inflammation in the nasal pharyngeal area you’d need nasal decongestants. He will most likely see immidate results with those including a reduced headache. But I still recommend going to get antibiotics if the pain is as bad as he is describing @jack

I avoid medications, including NSAIDS, as much as possible but am not averse when they are the last resort.

You have to take nsaids in large quantities every single day for a long time for it to damage the organs. Jack’s age, height, healthy lifestyle shows it’s ok to take nsaids included in either of the over the counter medicines once in a while like when needed to. You have to take over 3000 mg of nsaids In less than 24 hours everyday for it have damaging effects. Jacks over the counter medicine will probably

have a tiny Amount of nsaid maybe 500 mg. It’s ok.

I've found some herbal remedies to be very effective, like oragano oil, but not all. I wouldn't recommend something unless I've demonstrated to myself several times that it works with and not without. I agree thats not scientific, but the basis upon which I originally investigated the possibility is from what treatments were commonplace before modern pharmaceuticalls were available.

For the most part, all a doctor can do is prevent you from dying if bleeding or if lethally inflected. Everything else is done by the body and it's ability to protect and heal itself.

Yes so when @jack is all better with science based medicines and doctors save his ear and upper respiratory system, then I will allow it that you may take over and recommend something to improve his overall health maybe vitamins or something? What do you recommend?

Neither of us are in an position to take hold of his healthcare, and you must admit its more careless to prescribe medications without an exam by an experienced diagnostician than it is to recommend dietary adjustments that could have the benefit of relief.

None of the medicines I talked about are prescription based besides amoxicillin or augmentin, which where you are in the carribean aren’t prescribed. Whatever I said is over the counter recommendation, and yet it’s better than essential oils. Telling someone you care about to look up mechanism of action of drugs before taking them is teaching patients how to take care of themselves. It’s not careless since there wasn’t a prescription, I said everything you said in my insight and experience. You’re mad because I’m right lol you’ll learn one day or not idk šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

This isn’t different than the 10 others telling Jack to take antibiotics for ear infection. Did they come to the carribean and examine jack?

I think if you pick a career like the essential oils and start getting upset at everyone with a lot of knowledge on medicines, nsaids and pt education then it’s not the career for you.

It’s your life, choose essential oils if you want to study those, but then don’t start having anger or animosity against people that explain science based medicine telling we should take healthcare or whatever else you said.

I have been referring to my own experience, and had in fact tried a full course of antibiotics for this particular virus in January and itnhad no effect. You can believe what you will about my emotions and motives and I won't judge you right or wrong in your recommendations. Your approaches certainly may have a positive effect in Jack's case, but given my preferences and experiences I offer an alternative that may be harmless and could even be used alongside an allopathic approach. Not everyone prefers to submit to the regulated medical profession every time they have an earache.

@jack please read mechanism

Of action (MOA) of nasal decongestants and antibiotics mentioned. Hope you feel better love šŸ’• let me know if there’s anything I can do for you šŸ’‹

No way, lol. Don’t do this lol @jack How do oil capsules help? Would you explain please?

Then you need amox or amoxicillin/clavulanic acid if not penicillin allergic or if you do have a penicillin allergy, doxycycline is best but if it’s really sunny that can cause sun sensitivity - I mean none of this is great medical advice bc I can’t examine you, wish I was there! See if they have a little clinic somewhere

šŸ˜¢šŸ™šŸ½ā¤ļø

You know I would get those a lot back when I did saunas and steam rooms every day. I think not covering my head and then going out into the cold air did it šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø

If it is because some water got in, put drop of alcohol inside, it will help to make the water evaporate

🄹

Uh oh. No fun if middle ear. Eustachian tube massage; it’s hella ouch tho.

I got stuck out of town waiting for an ear infection to get better once. Flying before you can regularly and easily pop your ears is a no go. See a doctor. Feel better soon. Ear infections suck.
