I’m listening to Preston pysh interviewing Poalo Ardoino…I’ve got it paused early in the podcast where they’re discussing 2cd and 3rd order/layer use cases of btc and stable coins in p2p finance using hole punch tech.
I’ve heard the term a few times but don’t understand it🤷🏽♂️

Holepunch is some wild p2p networking tech that enables apps like Keet. So we can have a video call direct from my computer to yours and no middleman.

Using an intermediary server to help two peers discover each other’s public-facing IP addresses and establish a direct connection.
Is that how it works? I actually don't know, but that's what Tailscale does, but just for my personal VPN

There is a tftc episode where marty and paolo explains it. Is doing peer to peer communication without a server in the middle. Keet.io is the app tether made to replace zoom using holepunch. Paolo thinks it can scale to many things, on the podcast with preston they talk AI at the end and the example is local small models that can communicate with a network of small local models on other devices to make a serverless AI
