I actually think we should cultivate echo chambers here. Let people silo themselves in some number of communities without having to worry about spam and toxicity. The minimum way would be to cultivate communites around a set of relays, but there are definitely other possibilities.

Doesn't change anything in the base case, you can go back wenever you want by changing your relays.

You can also use have different "echo chambers" for different clients or topics. Like, I'd need low entry, beginner-level stuff for #C++ programming, intermediate-level for baking, and advanced level for economics.

Most people are varied like that.

I think of top-down and bottup-up process for moderation. Top-down is when relay moderators control who is on their relay. Bottom-up is how users curate their feed. We got Mutes and WOT scores, but this is more blacklist focused.

Whitelist is the inverse - block everyone except those you want to see because you're here for a specific reason, to engage in some community about some topic. You don't care about discovery because *YOU'RE THERE FOR A SPECIFIC REASON*.

This would create lots of temporal sparsity in the network if everyone did that. Glaze your eyes at the network, fuzz it over -> Average out the time and you'll have a good approximation of any top-down created community, but completely user driven because they create the filter bubbles.

nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z how about this as process of community development on nostr?

*Shields Up*

Its similar to NIP-72. The approved events are the "white-listed" ones and but clients can always download the non approved ones and make a WoT feed with them.

Love the synergy. Love the potential lowered computation

Thought you'd both be interested considering your interests and analogies toward biology.

I'd wager this is also synergetic with DVMs - not needing to curate the "whole" network, but curate a focused subset who are known to produce such content. nostr:npub1nxa4tywfz9nqp7z9zp7nr7d4nchhclsf58lcqt5y782rmf2hefjquaa6q8 what do you think?

Everyone is doing this off-Nostr, right now, on SimpleX, Telegram, or whatnot, but those are extremely walled.

Most of the time you want more of a hedge, so that people could peek over and see if it were "their scene" and move along if it's just a bunch of furries talking about the the expansion rate of the universe, or whatever.

Exactly, which is why I'm making the analogy with the *shields up*. Its not the default setting, but when you're situated you can have various different shields to cultivate an "average" topic or posting behavior.

my stupid idea was that of moderators, all moderators, the community is formed with 5 people, and 5 people are needed to approve a moderator, request or invitation.
