After years of estrangement, my father was given the opportunity to reconnect with me and his newly born grandson.
He rejected that opportunity, and then, a few weeks later, died at the age of 67.
His heart had turned to stone.
Sometimes I wonder if, upon receiving the request to reconnect, God said to him, "One last chance to turn back. It's not too late, you know? Would you like to reconsider?"
But my father's answer was clear.
He wanted to be alone. He chose silence and darkness. He wanted nothing but himself.
I wonder where he is now.
