And in your case perhaps even more important, won't protect against government overreach/abuse.
Just like money neither will privacy nor the combination of those two will be able to solve everything.

If the government discriminates against non-KYC bitcoin then they certainly also will discriminate against Monero as a whole, since the anonymity/privacy is what they have a problem with. So what’s the difference really? Seems like the real power in all of it comes from going around the government and the fiat system entirely in the long run. There will always be somewhere in the world that will accept your money, maybe just not the shitty over reaching western countries that we current live in during the final death throes of the fist collapse.
That's why Monerists are building truthly circular economy tools that don't need to be gov backed and Bitcoiners are building "circular economy" backed by KYC/AML and gov.

Strongly disagree. Privacy in money is essential to a free (like in freedom) society otherwise all your transactions are observable and will be observed by those in charge and used against you if you don't follow their orders.
Privacy enables fungibility, which is a core prerequisite for money.
There is only very little real money in today's world (thanks to digital fiat credit KYC expansion), so people like you don't know what's the difference between money and credit.
True fungibility makes checking the total amount in circulation impossible.

Privacy is not required for Money and with real privacy you simply can't buy anything were goverment is involved, house land car insurance etc.
Besides that I think Bitcoin can give you privacy if needed.

But if I ask how we can check total supply or prevent a double spend no one has given me any explanation so far.

I don't think we should feel 'superior' just since we believe in Bitcoin.
I don't think it is perfect, can't guarantee it will succeed in the future.
And if it was perfect still can't guarantee it will be used by a majority...
Money is both chosen and defined by humans and as such will probably always be at risk of being abused one way or an other, direct or indirectly.
As being a tool, both the will to use it and how to use it is up to the user.
Thus again the users with all possible flaws is the main factor.
I didn't needed #Bitcoin to be aware of human flaws and the fact current reality is not my favorite.
But Bitcoin offers a chance to change things for the better and in a mostly violence free way.
But if you realize how the current society works and is fooled, that same free to use, voluntary to adopt is also a huge burden and risk.

We evolve in the right direction or not.
Bitcoin will be used as intended and give a new direction to mankind or not.
We are ready for it and enough will do what is needed or not.
Basically we are just an experiment of nature.
Evolution gave us enough brains to pretty much control most of our environment and determine our own future.
