I need all the nostr clients i can get!
I just downlaoded the dmg for nostur from https://nostur.com/. Only a few minutes ago , seem to only have access to read only and need to enter npub manually as it isn't browser based and won't sync with extension. Prompted to enter private key to gain read/write but I'm too paranoid about that sort of request. Client looks crisp. I'm with you MC4 on needing any desktop client that works!
So do you not enter your private key for other nostr clients?
No, because I use my alby extension in my browser to sync with the client. I only use nostr on desktop so not sure how it works for apps/mobile devices
So you give alby the nsec and they sign into the nostr client?
Yea, but my nsec is generated from alby in the beginning so I just stuck with that and no need to worry about nsec apart from noting in down(offline) in case there's a blow up somewhere down the line.
I had no idea you could create an nsec there and use it on nostr. Thats cool.
Yea it's so long ago that I did it that I kind of forgot the exact reasoning. I think there was/is the option of self generating an nsec and then using it or using an extension like alby or nos2x to generate an nsec which, I'm no expert, keeps the nsec somewhat shielded from disclosure on clients and websites. https://uselessshit.co/resources/nostr/ maybe have a look at the the section "getting the keys" and "how to generate and manage nostr keys and sign events" there's quite a good guide there.
I just looked on that https://uselessshit.co/resources/nostr/ in the generate the keys section it will take you to an alby or nos2x tutorial. Actually in the alby tutorial it does suggest that you could put your own private key into alby and go from there.

Jusqu'où va t-il aller Apple avec ce type de messages plus qu'ubuesques ? Pour un des mastondes de la Tech c'est l'une de ces *petitesses* tellement ubuesque dont je n'aurais jamais pouvoir venir. Putain qu'on les casse ces GAFAM leur Monopole de cet acte démontre le pouvoir qu'ils ont pour diriger même nos Leaders .Un danger pour nous Nous Tous ..
