I remember back when I was growing up, we thought PlayStation was hyper realistic. Then N64 and PS2 came out and things were even more realistic. Could not imagine what they have today.

It’s conceivable that perception is limited by what’s being perceived. Maybe the program we’re in isn’t hyper realistic but since we have nothing else to compare it to we perceive it as hyper realistic.
