Are we human or are we hyper realistic computer programs?
Discussion
If we're computer programs how would we even know what realistic is? Maybe the real world is like 50x more detailed than this.

That’s a theory in Age of Em. Basically living in a universe created by bots running simulations on the best form of humanity. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/26831944-the-age-of-em
The freaky part of this book is it could be what’s occurring today. And Robin Hanson was my professor in college. What he says can be off the wall but is not sensational.
Couldn't find it on my library apps unfortunately. Read the summary though. Honestly I feel like most people are bots, even irl, so you might be right 😂
I remember back when I was growing up, we thought PlayStation was hyper realistic. Then N64 and PS2 came out and things were even more realistic. Could not imagine what they have today.
It’s conceivable that perception is limited by what’s being perceived. Maybe the program we’re in isn’t hyper realistic but since we have nothing else to compare it to we perceive it as hyper realistic.
Or whoever is programming it is far superior. We’re pawns in a simulation…
I’m actually a gorilla, but I’m hidden in plain sight, camouflaged as a human within a realistic computer simulation.
So you’re behind Planet of the Apes?
Would an non-realistic program know that it was not hyper-realistic?
Depends on the universe’s definition of “realistic”
